Skincare Ingredients We're Thankful For

We're thankful for so much: family, friends, puppies, quesadillas...the list just goes on and on. When it comes to skincare, however, we're especially thankful that we're living in an age where there's more science and more innovation than ever before. Skincare really has come a long way since your grandmother's jar of Ponds cream. With that said, here are a few of our favorite skincare ingredients that we're truly grateful for:

Marine collagen – The purest, most sustainable and ethical form of collagen, this miracle ingredient is meant to supplement the collagen we naturally los as we age. It makes for healthier, stronger skin with added luminosity.

Hyaluronic acid – If there were an awards show for skincare, we'd have hyaluronic give a speech while taking the trophy. Hyaluronic pulls moisture from the air and gives it to your skin. It's a hydration miracle!

Antioxidants – Antioxidants are the peacemakers of the skincare kingdom. They intercept the damage environmental stressors have on your skin and significantly lessen their impact. They're great for combating aging and the effects of sun damage.

Salicylic acid – All the exfoliation without any of the hard work. This ingredient is phenomenal for combating acne because it penetrates deeply into the pores and exfoliate past the surface of the skin. No more whiteheads and blackheads!

Glycolic acid – We normally hear the word "acid" and think of danger, but the only thing dangerous about glycolic acid is not incorporating it into your skincare routine. This fantastic ingredient is a super exfoliator and actively combats signs of aging.

Retinol – Retinol is a skin plumper that makes skin appear more youthful while helping erase fine lines. The only drawback is that retinol can make your skin drier and also makes it more sensitive to sun.
Vitamin C & E serum – Vitamin C is packed with antioxidants and is great for erasing old scars and fine lines.

Caffeine – As much as we love caffeine in our drinks, it's also great on our skin. It can help stimuate the skin and help erase crow's feet while giving skin a fresh appearance.

The best skincare has at least one of these powerful ingredients in it, so be sure to check out the ingredients list before investing in your routine.

3 Steps to Helping Skin Recover After the Holidays

Your sugar cookie game was on point this year—and no one's questioning that. Nor are we even remotely judging how many sweets you ate because, hey, life is short. But while we're applauding your devotion to the time-honored tradition of bingeing during the holidays, your skin may not be so fond of your dietary decisions.

If your face is feeling bloated and your skin is breaking out, we have three tried-and-true steps that will get your skin's glow back.

1. Stop picking, and start healing

We know we're not supposed to eat sugar. But the problem is that, um, sugar tastes good. Unfortunately, though, sugar is connected to acne and inflammation. Your knee jerk reaction may be to pop those pimples and start scrubbing your face with exfoliators, but that's not the best way to heal acne...and it can actually cause further irritation.

Instead, use a gentle cleanser and then follow it up with a marine collagen-infused serum. Marine collagen strengthens the skin and encourages faster recovery time, so it's ideal for mitigating breakouts.

2. De-stress

Holiday stress leads to stressed skin. In addition to taking the time between Christmas and New Year's to focus on getting enough sleep and get back into your yoga/meditation routine, this is also the time to take extra time with your skincare regimen. Incorporate the most soothing products you own, and take the time to incorporate an anti-inflammatory face mask.

This block of time is important because, once you head back to work in the new year, there's a good chance you won't have as much time to devote to your skincare.

3. Rehydrate

Few of us are strong enough to turn down free alcohol at holiday parties. But alcohol is the fastest way to dehydration, and that immediately shows up in your skin. Focus on drinking even more water, using serum consistently, and masking regularly. Also, consider investing in a humidifier to use as you sleep; this is a great way to survive the dry winter months while keeping your skin moisturized

Spring into Fresh Ingredients

Spring brings freshness in our gardens, kitchens and bathroom counters. As warmer weather brings clearer skies and more time outdoors, it’s a good indicator to transition out of your winter skincare regimen and start using products that support sun protection and skin brightening.

At Soon Skincare, we bring spring into our regimen with delicious ingredients. Berries, botanicals and citrus have great skin benefits and incorporate a hint of freshness to your regimen.

Smooth with strawberry

Rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, strawberry is an excellent supporting ingredient in restorative anti-aging formulas. Antioxidants protect against environmental damage often caused by sun exposure. Antioxidants also fight the breakdown of collagen, the important protein that keeps your skin looking plump and smooth (and starts naturally diminishing in your late 20s!). We love anything that supports natural collagen production.

Since the warmer season begs for a pretty pucker, we include this sweet ingredient in our Strawberry Lip Masks with Collagen that instantly plump and hydrate lips.

Brighten with blueberry

Blueberries are more than just a fruity addition to your Sunday morning pancake breakfast. These mini berries are highly concentrated with vitamin A, which improves skin tone and texture. Blueberry’s antioxidant properties help brighten the skin and defend against environmental damage while its mild acidity provides gentle exfoliation that’s great for delicate areas.

With longer, sunnier days, this time of year is a great time to add blueberries into your routine. Try them in the Hydrating Blueberry Hydrogel Eye Patch, formulated to reduce dark circles.

Refresh with peony root extract

This botanical ingredient not only adds a pleasant, natural fragrance but is also a potent antioxidant, that moisturizes and aids in skin regeneration. Peony contains the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compound paeonol that supports overall skin health.

Warmer temps come with more time outside barefoot. Give your feet a refresh with our Peony Foot Mask and say goodbye to dry cracked heels.

Protect with orange

Orange may be the most well known source of antioxidants L-ascorbic acid and citric acid and for good reason. L-ascorbic acid, the purest form of vitamin C, is a powerful defense against sun damage, blue light and pollution. Citric acid is an effective skin brightener and natural exfoliant that helps slough dead skin cells away so they don’t clog pores.

Make this kitchen staple a new must-have in your skincare regimen. Try L-ascorbic acid in Phoenix 15% Vitamin C + E Serum formulated to counteract the effects of environmental damage.

Ingredient spotlight: Allantoin

At Soon Skincare, we’re all about embracing the Korean beauty principle of smooth skin and pure ingredients. Soon is Korean for ‘smooth’ and ‘pure’ after all, so we mean it.

One of our favorite skin-smoothing ingredients is allantoin. Naturally found in comfrey plants, chamomile and sugar beets, allantoin is  highly versatile and plays an important role in Korean skincare. Its hydrating, soothing and reduces inflammation, making it a great addition to dry and sensitive skin regimens or for use alongside potentially irritating ingredients such as retinol. It also works as a skin protectant and promotes healing so you’ll find it in sunscreens and acne products.

Another reason we love allantoin is for its antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Seriously, we love it so much we’ve added it to just about all of our face masks, eye patches and lip masks. We can’t get enough of it. Allantoin protects against environmental damage, meaning it encourages long-term healthy skin (so, no wrinkles or dark spots here). Studies have also shown that allantoin can encourage the production of new collagen.

That’s a lot of responsibility for an ingredient that doesn’t get much attention. But we’d like to change that. Try allantoin in:

Benefits of Vitamin C and E serum

When it comes to skincare, there are so many products on the market that we can use. And, different products for different purposes. And, this can be a problem if you don’t know what the benefit and purposes of a specific skincare product are.

One product that many people don’t use is the Vitamin C & E serum. This is because we don’t know the benefits and uses of this serum. The serums are also on the more expensive side, and this is why people don’t want to use them. However, after you have read these benefits, you will understand why this is something that you need to have in your skincare range.

Understanding serum better

A serum is completely different from normal facial creams. It is more concentrated and full of vitamins, like vitamin C and E. A lot more than any other product. Because the serum is so concentrated, you will always get the product in a small tube. And, you will be surprised about how long you are actually using this small tube of serum.

If you are using the serum, you will see results in your skin a lot faster than with any other skincare product. This is if you are making use of one of the best products on the market. This is one of the reasons why most people are switching to Korean skincare products.

These are some of the most important benefits of making use of vitamin serums on a daily basis.

It can be used on most skin types

This is the great thing about the serums from K Skincare. It can be used on most skin types. Because this is basically just a tube full of vitamins, there is no chance that you can damage your skin. It doesn’t dry out your skin or even cause your skin to become oily. Making this the perfect product for all skin types.

But you need to make sure that you are actually buying the real serums. Not the fake, cheap ones on the market. Only the real ones will have benefits on all skin types.

Assisting even out your skin tone

With aging, this is a problem that we all have. Our skin tone is changing and isn’t even anymore. You might have dark patches at places on your skin. And, for many, this can become a problem. But, if you are making use of Vitamin C & E serum, it will even out your skin tone over time.

Yes, with regular use, you will see that your skin tone is getting lighter and become too even out. Making you look and feel a lot younger than what you actually are.

It assists with circles under your eyes

In the time that we are living at the moment, stress and not getting enough sleep is something we all are struggling with. And, with the stress and sleepless nights, we are more prone to circles under our eyes. And, this isn’t something that we like to see. And, we don’t want other people to see that we are stressed with circles and puppy eyes.

With using the serum, you will see a visible change in your circles under your eyes. The color will get lighter and fade completely over time. The only product that will actually remove this problem completely.

The secret is the type of serum that you are buying

There are different types and brand-name serums that you can buy on the market. Some are working better than others. So, you need to make sure that you are buying the right type of serum for getting the best results. Most people will say that you should go for the most expensive ones.

The secret is to consider buying the serum from Korean skincare products. This skincare range is made from all-natural ingredients and will give you the best results.

The one product that everyone needs to have is the Vitamin C & E serum. This is a product that is giving you all the vitamins your skin needs for glowing, healthy skin. And, if you are buying the product from the best skincare range, you will even get better results. These are just a couple of the benefits that you will get from using the serum on a daily basis.

Multitask While You Mask

Life is busy. Between work, laundry, cleaning, cooking, sports, family, social events—oof, we’re winded already. You don’t have time for your skincare routine to get in your way. That’s the beauty of sheet masks. Whether you’re up for a full-face refresh or targeting the under eye area and lips, sheet masks give your skin the TLC it needs without putting a damper on your day.

While infusing the skin with potent, healthy ingredients, Soon Skincare sheet masks enhance absorption, prevent unnecessary ingredient evaporation and, best of all, never slip during wear. We worked *really* hard on a fit and texture that is comfortable, doesn’t budge and feels luxurious to wear as you go about your day.

  • Our hydrogel masks are a lightweight, gel-like texture that can hold 500 times its weight in serums. Hydrogel hugs the skin to prevent slipping. Shop hydrogel masks in any of our eye or lip masks, including our new Golden Eye 24K Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches.
  •
  • Our biocellulose masks are tightly woven sheets that can absorb 100 times its weight so they’ll never dry out during use. They fit snug against the skin. Try biocellulose in several of our face masks, including our Biocellulose Anti-Aging Face Mask.

Our favorite way to incorporate sheet masks into our routine is by wearing them while we do just about anything else. Chores aren’t fun, but if you can work through your to-do list while nurturing your skin that just may make those chores a little sweeter.

Mop the floors while wearing a foot mask. Catch up on emails with your lip masks. Fold the laundry with hand masks. Finish the yard work with eye patches or a face mask on. You’ll have the whole neighborhood multitasking while masking in no time. Our sheet masks are designed to work with you because your beauty routine shouldn’t interfere with your life.

Join the #MultiTaskingMasking challenge April 5 - April 23 and show us how you multitask wearing any of Soon’s face, lip or eye masks. We’ll be picking weekly winners and one grand prize winner for a year of masks on us.

Bonus: every person that enters will receive a code for an exclusive Sheet Mask BOGO. Buy a box of 5 sheet masks of your choice, receive a box free.
