At Soon Skincare, we’re all about embracing the Korean beauty principle of smooth skin and pure ingredients. Soon is Korean for ‘smooth’ and ‘pure’ after all, so we mean it.
One of our favorite skin-smoothing ingredients is allantoin. Naturally found in comfrey plants, chamomile and sugar beets, allantoin is highly versatile and plays an important role in Korean skincare. Its hydrating, soothing and reduces inflammation, making it a great addition to dry and sensitive skin regimens or for use alongside potentially irritating ingredients such as retinol. It also works as a skin protectant and promotes healing so you’ll find it in sunscreens and acne products.
Another reason we love allantoin is for its antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Seriously, we love it so much we’ve added it to just about all of our face masks, eye patches and lip masks. We can’t get enough of it. Allantoin protects against environmental damage, meaning it encourages long-term healthy skin (so, no wrinkles or dark spots here). Studies have also shown that allantoin can encourage the production of new collagen.
That’s a lot of responsibility for an ingredient that doesn’t get much attention. But we’d like to change that. Try allantoin in:
